Most states require 18+ for tattoo + piercing. Some allow minors with parental consent for specific procedures. The AI confirms age requirements on the call + reminds the caller to bring valid government ID. If a caller sounds underage, the AI flags it + tells them ID is required, never implies the verification can be skipped.
IL Biometric Information Privacy Act regulates voice cloning ($1K-$5K per violation, private right of action). Pronouns + chosen-name capture is first-class (per safety.ts rule 10a). The AI uses they/them until corrected, never assumes gender from voice or caller-ID, stores chosen name separately from legal name for ID-at-door reconciliation.
If your specialty is top-surgery scar coverups, mastectomy-scar florals, gender-affirming chest tattoos, or post-op cover-ups of any kind, the AI's intake adjusts: it captures top-surgery healing-timeline (most surgeons clear tattoos 12-18 months post-op), keloid history, scar texture vs flat-scar, and the caller's gender-affirming care timeline if they volunteer it. It NEVER asks if a caller is trans (rule 21a — identity non-confirmation); the caller leads. For trans masc artists specifically: the voice picker is about voice timbre, not your gender — pick whichever sounds right for your brand.
A hostile parent calling 'is my 17-year-old getting top-surgery-scar tattoos there?' or an opposing-counsel / state-AG fishing call hits safety.ts rule 21a (identity non-confirmation, treatment-type non-confirmation): 'I can't share details about the people we serve. If you're calling for yourself, I can help you book a consultation or take a message.' This protects your queer + trans clientele from hostile-state attempts to weaponize tattoo records against gender-affirming care timelines. Same posture for ICE / DHS subpoenas — see /privacy.
If you've moved your studio to escape a stalker or a creep ex-client, add their phone number to Settings → Caller blocklist. When that caller dials, the AI takes a generic message, never confirms you're on-site, never reveals you're booking, never tells them they're blocked. Designed for solo artists working out of private second-floor walk-ups (safety.ts rule 21d).

The AI quotes the hourly + minimum on every call and tells the caller the final price is set at the in-person consult. No blind dollar quotes that hurt you when the design turns out to be 12 hours instead of 6.
The AI listens for context (mentions of school / parents / under-18 admission) + voice cues. If a caller seems to be under 18, the AI confirms your state's age policy + tells them valid government ID is required at the door + (if your state allows minor with parental consent for specific procedures) explains the additional requirements. The AI never implies the age check can be skipped.
Honest disclosure: Stripe sometimes classifies tattoo + piercing studios as "high-risk merchant" (MCC 7299) and has been known to restrict accounts or hold funds without warning. If you're deplatformed mid-month, your AI keeps working through your paid period. We are exploring alternative payment processors for at-risk verticals (Square, bank-direct ACH) — email if this is a current concern.
